Does hair loss after Typhoid is a common problem?

Hair loss is often associated with typhoid fever. Though hair loss during typhoid is common and unpreventable, hair regrowth is possible with proper diet and hair care after the illness. Typhoid is a severe bacterial infection typically caused by contaminated water or food and can be the cause of acute anemia due to the damage it does on the alimentary system. There are over 40 potential symptoms resulting from typhoid fever including but not limited to a loss of appetite resulting in weight loss, fever, headaches, constipation, chills, sore throat, diarrhea (sometimes with blood), liver symptoms, and much more.

Also there are many reason associated with Hair loss after Typhoid-

  • At the time of typhoid fever doctor gives you lots of Antibiotics, these antibiotics can cause hair loss.
  • Most of the patient are suffering from Diarrhea at the time of typhoid fever, that means flushing out all the bacterias, but with these bacteria you also flushing essential nutrients that are vital for the growth of your hair.
  • Intestinal tract at the time of typhoid may results loosing of essential Vitamin like Biotin that are responsible for hair growth.
